When Criminal defense attorney Bruce M. Margolin ran for governor of California in the 2003 recall election he proposed to resolve California's financial issues by ending the current prohibition on cannabis, both the medicinal herb and the industrial hemp plants. To many people this sounded like a very good idea, and Bruce was the 10th most voted for person out of the 135 people who ran for office. Still to some others, the idea of legalized marijuana seemed unreasonable, they believed it to be an immoral drug, a scourge to society, a gateway drug and so to those people Mr. Bruce M. Margolin, Esq. Respectfully says "think again"...
Did you know. . .
The earliest laws in America prohibiting marijuana were strictly racist in nature?
That marijuana is less addictive than coffee?
That there is no study or research to conclude the use of the marijuana plant as a "gateway" to the abuse of narcotics like heroin and cocaine or to use of bathtub drugs like methamphetamine or xtc?
Marijuana use is unparalleled in treatment of nausea and wasting away syndromes which may enable sufferers of cancer, AIDS and other chronic conditions to enjoy a longer life, a better quality of life and the strength to overcome certain terminal conditions?
The incarceration of each marijuana offender costs taxpayers $28,129.00 annually?
That marijuana is bought, sold and consumed every day, it is California's #1 cash crop, a billion dollar industry which goes on completely untaxed?
In one growing season, one acre of hemp can produce an equal amount of pulp for paper as 4 acres of trees can produce after 20 years of growth?
