Penalties for Multiple DUI Offenders

California courts do not take multiple DUI offenses lightly. As illustrated below, the consequences of a conviction increase significantly with each subsequent offense:

  • Second Offense: up to 1 year in jail, fines of up to $1000, license suspension of up to 2 years
  • Third Offense: up to 1 year in jail, fines of up to $1000, license suspension of up to 3 years
  • Fourth offense: up to 3 years in prison, fines of up to $1000, license suspension of up to 4 years

Please note, repeat DUI offenders may also be subject to the installation of ignition interlock devices, rehabilitation, and counseling or probation.
